tutoring experience

Hello everyone,
           I had the opportunity to visit the writing center. When I first walked into the writing center a women greeted me at the door.  I asked her to observe a tutor  and  she had me sign up. I was assigned to a middle aged tutor. The tutors are placed in a cubical to have a one on one comfortable space with their tutee.   The student was an ESL student and had a lot of grammatical problems in her paper. I noticed that the tutor read her paper first and then asked her questions. His body language was very good and he was focused on the task at hand. The problem I had with him was that he would often give the tutee the answers. He wasn't helpful at all and the session ended very quickly. The tutee clearly came to get answers to her paper and she really didn't learn anything from the session she had with the tutor. I also noticed the tutor asked personal questions after the session was over and to me that was clearly unprofessional.  Overall I thought it was very interesting to see what goes on in the writing center.
