Third Tutoring experience
My third experience at the writing center was ok but I definitely wasn't impressed. The tutor walked with the tutee to the tutoring space. He introduced himself and started reading his assignment. he gave feedback right away. The tutee was an ESL student and was still getting use to speaking English. He was a good writer in his country. He explained to his tutor that when he wrote his paper he wrote it in Spanish and translated it into English. His tutor told him it wasn't a good idea to do that because in his native tongue which is Spanish. The words are written backwards in Spanish, when you translate it into English it sounds and looks funny. The tutor was a cheerleader in a negative way, his paper had a lot of errors and the tutor was overlooking it. He was talking so much that he didn't really give the tutee a chance to tell him all his issues and concerns about his assignment. The tutor started to change his ideas into his own words. Eventually the tutee started to write the changes instead of actually doing it on his own. He gave several examples and communicated well with tutee . It was a good and bad session to me. I felt the tutor should've communicated better with the tutee. He should've talked less and allowed the tutee to find his own mistakes. He also should've given the tutee more opportunities to discuss his issues with his paper. Overall I think the tutee wasn't to bad but should definitely work on a couple of his tutoring skills.
